WEEK 132: WORKFLOW TI GET UNSTUCK

Everyone can make agreements, but the real power comes from showing up, sticking to your schedule, and doing the work to fulfill them.     Jess Kuemmerlin

REFLECTIONS (learnings and actions): Last week I talked about how you can identify if you are stuck and what you need to consider to get out.

This week I want to to take it one step further and provide a simple workflow for you to get "unstuck!"

Additionally, I was talking with a friend this week who challenged me I could not produce an insightful post in less than 300 words.

Challenge accepted.

Last week I mentioned you get stuck by making more short term decisions based on how you feel.

For example, you choose to get back to the best shape of your life, but constantly make decisions on what you crave (actually addictions).

What I did not include last week, was that making decisions based on how you feel enforces a victim mentality; powerless, lack, and not control of your situation.

Now the truth is you actually have ALL the power in every moment. This belief will allow you to shift your thinking and make decisions based on who you want to BE, not how you feel in the moment.

What I want to highlight is you act EMPOWERED, not as a victim. From a place of POWER not lack.

To break this down I have created this simple, yet powerful workflow for you to achieve success, higher performance, and have confidence in any situation.

POWER - Who you Want to BE - Long Term

Whereas, being STUCK you would be literally stuck in the following workflow:

VICTIM - How you Feel - Short Term

So are you STUCK or UNSTUCK?

Well, use these two simple workflows to one, identify, but, two make decisions to move you out of your rut!

See you on the other side...J

(By the way 285 words)

Top three activities that move me forward?

1. Learning about Zen...reaching a result and mastering are two different things.
2. Being consistent with NMR. The day just does not move as smooth.
3. Making agreements and sticking to them.

Biggest lessons/learnings and corrections?

Everyone can make agreements, but the real power comes from showing up, sticking to your schedule, and doing the work to fulfill them.

What are you grateful for?

Our international life abroad. Meggo's father is in town and showing him where we live makes me appreciative of all that we have around us.

-----
PLANNING (Implementation Intention):  You will follow through 2X to 3X more likely to complete your weekly task than you normally would just by filling in the following statement.

I plan to complete the weekly task [day] at [time] in [location].

A reminder you might have to use multiple Implementation Intentions in order to follow through.

EXECUTION (strategies used):  From week to week, I use a combination of many strategies. There are always some which are used more than others depending on what comes up, but I wanted to offer a link to all them at once.

My advice is to identify the I CAN'T statement you tell yourself during the most. Then find a strategy below the statement which resonates with you, and then start using it.

Enjoy!

WEEK 131: LONG TERM OVER SHORT TERM

Make decisions based on who you want to BE, not how you feel.

REFLECTIONS (learnings and actions): Question have you ever felt STUCK?

You know, taking action, doing things, but frustrated as you are not creating any results to show for it?

You are a hamster in the wheel who runs and runs, but makes no progress forward.

Pretty sure everyone has been there, but what do you need to know in order to break free from the rut and take the action to move forward?

Well before I tell you, let me see if I can point out some characteristics of being STUCK, so you can identify this in the future.

1. This year seems very similar to last year...and actually the year before (or the year before).

In the same job - same position - same friends - same interests - same everything.

2. Spend money on trivial things. (Things that might provide short term pleasure).

Use it once or twice, but then sits on the shelf as a paper weight.

3. You are obsesses with short term.

This last point is the biggest indicator to be aware of.

I can guarantee you will be caught in a constant cycle of one step forward, and then two steps back.

What does this lead to?

Frustration, aggression, insecurity, doubt

WHY?

As you put int he work, but do not see the results for your actions.

Then one of two things usually happens.

One, you quit. The uncomfortable feelings are too much and you retreat back to comfort, where everything is familiar (but keeps you STUCK)

Two, you continue to endure, thinking more actions (based in the short term) will help you get out of the rut. But what happens next if you get overwhelmed with all the activities you have to keep up with, and eventually hit Burnout.

And burnout is no joke. This is a road where some people never come back from.

Let me give you a few examples of what this looks like in real life.

You buy the newest iGadget (hundreds, maybe thousands of dollars), but do not invest in a course to help you grow personally.

OR

You buy new furniture for your house, instead of paying for the mentor to accelerate your growth.

BUT....

There is hope. All you need is ONE simple shift. It is powerful and life-changing.

What is it?

Long term over short term.

What does that mean?

There is a great quote that explains this perfectly.

Make decisions based on WHO YOU WANT TO BE (long term), not how you feel (short term).

Now, being crystal clear on WHO YOU WANT TO BE must happen first, but I can guarantee you will not be STUCK anymore if you can consistently do this.

For example, weight loss.

Constantly making decisions on how you feel NOW, I want to eat that piece of cake/cookies/brownies, will keep you caught in a continual cycle of making a little to no progress.

Versus, making decisions on who you want to be BE, choosing to eat nutritious foods in balance, will ensure you will reach new levels of health never thought possible.

However, we live in a world where we crave instant gratification. I want an answer, Google it. I want to eat something, order it and it can be delivered to your door.

This is why it is so important you have the SYSTEMS in place to ensure you make decisions based in the long term consistently.

This will help you avoid or move quickly out of being STUCK, so you can start making progress towards new levels of success and performance.

What might a SYSTEM look like?

Well that is another post.

Just remember, make decisions based in the long term, not the short term to get out being STUCK!

Top three activities that move me forward?

1. Understanding we are not our mistakes. We are not perfect, but to know the process will involve success and failure.
2. Learning from Audible daily.
3. Implanting psychic umbrellas - telephone, Foxhole, and GRR - to protect myself from negative stimuli.

Biggest lessons/learnings and corrections?

Understanding that failure and mistakes are a a part of the process. Any success involves a road of both, the key is to learn from everything and see how it can be used to help you grow.

What are you grateful for?

New perspective on tough situations. Tough things are necessary and help us learn and grow, thus, it is not failure, but FUEL to help us move forward.

WEEK 130: I GET TO

When you are grateful fear disappears and abundance appears. Anthony Robbins

REFLECTIONS (learnings and actions): So last week I told you part I of the power of shifting from a place of LACK to ABUNDANCE.

The key was to focus more on your PROCESS Goals = INPUTS = LEAD INDICATORS = Daily decisions and actions, rather than RESULTS = OUTPUTS = LAG INDICATORS.

Today I want to share with you the second part which will allow you to achieve any goal (if you can implement on a consistent basis).

POWERFUL!

Imagine, achieving ANY GOAL...wow!

Well, what is the second part?

Before I get into it, I want to tell you a word switch that will help you with this.

On a daily basis you often say "I HAVE TO..." which really puts a negative connotation on the task. For example, I HAVE TO eat properly to be in better shape (no wonder why so many fail at getting a handle on their health).

Now what would happen if you change HAVE TO to GET TO?

Let's see. I GET TO eat properly so I can be in better shape. Automatically this empowers you as you come from a place of gratitude.

It is a simple fix, but you will see amazing results if you can make this one switch consistently.

Back to the second part of the power of acting from a place of abundance...

The answer is to SEE OPPORTUNITES everywhere.

We live in a world where instant gratification. We can get answers or solutions in a manner of seconds. For example, I do not know the answer to this...Google it. Or, swipe a few minutes to see what 100 of your friends are up to.

This is great, but it also takes you further away from acting from a place of abundance.

WHY?

Well, this instant gratification deals with what we readily see on the surface. You can see clearly the answer or have 100% certainty you will get the answer within a short period of time. Like turning on a light switch, you never doubt it will come on.

This is where acting from a place of abundance runs counter to this, as what you do not know is there is OPPORTUNITY everywhere, and you can access it any time.

Literally, anytime. You just have to have an iron clad confidence that although you might not see it on the surface it is there.

The key to doing this is to make choices on who you want to be versus how you feel, as what we feel is sometimes not correct.

By making these choices, you put your focus on the PROCESS, which then opens up your thinking to all the OPPORTUNITIES you have on a daily basis. You do this by replacing I HAVE TO with I GET TO.

THIS ALLOWS YOU TO ACHIEVE ANY GOAL...YOUR DREAMS!

Top three activities that move me forward?

1. Implanting psychic umbrellas to extinguish external stimuli.
2. Learning to truly being in Zen, as it lets me operate at the highest levels.
3. Pausing and being present with Meggo when I am in the same room.

Biggest lessons/learnings and corrections?

The drive, the hunt, the pressure, the problems, the issues is the fun part! They are a signal you are on the right path and motivation to keep going!

Do not push to remove them, but rather leverage them to your advantage.

What are you grateful for?

Having an ayi to help us on a weekly basis. Amei is amazing and our lives would be much more challenging without her.

WEEK 129: GOLD

Abundance is not something we acquire, but something we tune into. Wayne Dyer

REFLECTIONS (learnings and actions): This week I want to talk to you about a shift in your thinking that moves you from minimal to little success, to everything you touch becoming gold.

Not litterlaly of course, but the actions you take lead to bigger opporunites, success, and amazing results.

Well what is that shift.

Home alone this weekend on daddy duty, so going to get right into.

The key or change in thinking which will allow you to have more success is shifting from a place of LACK to a place of Abundance.

You have probably heard this many times on blogs, podcasts, quote boards, and everything in between, yet how do you actually make that change.

Abundance...is really just thinking there is no lack of anyting and it will always be there.

Is that it?

It is, but this comes by changing how you think about the PROCESS versus the results.

We live in a time where everytingis focused on results. How much weight do you want to lose, how much money would yiou like to make? The list goes on and on.

Now results can take on many different words such OUTPUT = LAG INDICATORS

Yet, the uber successful know that setting the goal of where you want to go is the key to find CLARITY first, but the most important thing is to then focus all of your energy into the process. Thus, ensuring your goals becomes a reality.

Process can also take on many different forms INPUTS = LEAD INDICATORS = PRINCIPLES, but in its simplest terms they are the daily decisions and actions you take.

Any success person, has an insane focus on the process, over the results. If you think about it, just focusing on the results over and over again will not produce them out of thin air.

What will?

The PROCESS = INPUTS = LEAD INDICATORS = Daily decisions and actions.

But I am going to give you a game changer. Ready?

Well, your PROCESS = INPUTS = LEAD INDICATORS = Daily decisions and actions are all PROCESS GOALS and these are the RULES you must keep at all times.

Similar to going to jail if you break one, these are the things you must one, have in place, but two, abide by if you want to achieve something great.

Take weight loss for example. You set a goal - result - LAG indicator to reach a certain weight. You then decide on what LEAD indicators which will get you there, but soon you constantly think of the LAG indicators and forget about your LEAD indicators.

This leads you to becoming frustrated and stressed as you do not see the results, yet you are spending little to no time on your lead indicators.

Thus, in the end you think diets do not work (true), you do not have enough skill, and boom this is LACK thinking.

Whereas, abundance thinkers know although they might not see it on the surface, they know it is there, they can access at anytime, and great and amazing things are always coming their way, WHY?

Because they abide by their RULES to sick with their PROCESS goals = INPUTS = LEAD INDICATORS = Daily decisions and actions. This makes success inevitable.

Now the key is to identify the INPUTS that ensure your success.

Thus, if you do not have a system, or unaware of the process that does, then that is where you need to start.

Having this process in place ensures your stick to the right RULES, which in turn shifts your mindset from one of LACK to one of ABUNDANCE.

Tune in next week, where I dive deeper into how to view life through an ABUNDANT lens in PART II.

Top three activities that move me forward?

1. Learning and Implanting psychic umbrellas. (future post)
2. Focusing on truly learning about ZEN, not only being disciplined to it.
3. Focusing on 80/20 thiking. How can we do more with less?

Biggest lessons/learnings and corrections?

The power of mindset and environment. These two factors determine the level of success you will reach in any area of your life!

What are you grateful for?

First. teh education my son is getting at school. He is only three, but he is learning so much!

econd, the network of friends my wife has in our new home. This was lacking in Brazil and I am grateful she is able to connect and hang out with them here in China.

Third. Having learnt, but building the systems in place to ensure success in any area of my life....wow, that is pretty awesome to say!
